Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Mulberry silk?

Mulberry silk is the most luxurious natural silk available on the global textile market and it is also the most expensive type of silk to buy. Mulberry silk is produced by the silkworm species Bombyx mori, which is exclusively fed with the leaves of the mulberry tree, hence the name "Mulberry silk". Mulberry leaves are rich in nutrients and protein, so the result is a thread that is long, continuous, and contains 18 amino acids and proteins that can nourish our hair and skin.

  • What is Momme count? What does 6A Grade mean?

Momme is the measurement used to determine the weight and density of silk fabric. We chose 22 Momme because it provides a perfect balance of quality and thickness, resulting in a high-quality silk product. The quality of silk is graded on a scale of A, B, or C, with A being the highest grade. Within the A grade, there is a range from 1 to 6, with 6A being the highest quality of silk available. We only use 6A-grade silk in our products to ensure the highest level of quality and luxury for our customers.

  • Where is Cilk silk made?

We source our pure Mulberry silk from China, the birthplace of silk production in the world. Our partnership with a boutique silk manufacturer based in Jiangsu province (growth and production region of the finest silk in the world) allows us to produce premium quality silk products that have been certified by OEKO-Tex®️ Standard 100 (the highest certification in the textile industry).

Chinese Mulberry silk is considered the best type of silk in the world. This is because the Chinese have been cultivating silk for thousands of years and have developed extensive expertise in the process. Here are some reasons why Chinese mulberry silk is considered the best:

1. High-quality silk cocoons: Chinese mulberry silk is made from the cocoons of the Bombyx mori silkworm, which is known for producing high-quality silk. Chinese silk farmers carefully cultivate these silkworms and provide them with the ideal conditions for producing the best silk possible.

2. Long history of silk cultivation: Silk production in China dates back over 5,000 years, and the Chinese have developed a deep understanding of the entire process, from raising silkworms to weaving the silk into fabric. This expertise has been passed down from generation to generation, ensuring that Chinese mulberry silk is of the highest quality.

3. Superior production methods: Chinese silk farmers use traditional methods to cultivate silkworms and harvest the silk. These methods involve careful attention to detail, including controlling the temperature and humidity in the silkworm breeding area, ensuring that the silkworms have enough food and water, and monitoring the health of the silkworms to ensure they produce high-quality silk.

4. Soft, luxurious feel: Chinese mulberry silk has a soft, luxurious feel that is unmatched by other types of silk. The silk fibers are smooth and fine, creating a fabric that feels incredibly soft and smooth against the skin.

  • What is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certification?

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized certification that verifies the absence of harmful substances in textiles and other consumer products. The certification ensures that every component of the product, including the fabric, threads, buttons, and zippers, has been tested for harmful substances and found to be free from them.

To be OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, a textile product must undergo rigorous testing by an independent third-party laboratory. The testing includes evaluating the product's pH level, formaldehyde content, heavy metal concentrations, and other potential hazards. The product must meet strict criteria for each substance tested, and only those products that pass all of the tests are certified.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive and stringent certifications in the textile industry. It provides assurance to consumers that the product they are buying is safe and free from harmful chemicals. This certification is particularly important for products like silk, which come into contact with the skin and can cause allergic reactions if they contain harmful substances.
